Cloud Providers FinOps Updates – June 22, 2025

The News about AWS, Azure, GCP to save your Money in Cloud.

AWS

Finally! See Exactly How Much Your S3 Tables Cost!

This is a huge update for data lake users! S3 Storage Lens can now show you the storage cost for your individual S3 tables.

Before, it was tough to figure out which specific tables in your data lake were costing you the most. Now, you can see the size and cost of each one.

This makes it so much easier to allocate costs to the right teams and find opportunities to clean up or optimize expensive tables.

Find and Stop Idle Auto Scaling Groups!

Time to hunt down more wasted spend! AWS Compute Optimizer can now identify idle EC2 Auto Scaling groups.

An Auto Scaling group is considered “idle” if it hasn’t scaled in or out for the last 30 days and has been running at zero or very low CPU and network usage.

This is a fantastic feature to help you find and get rid of resources that are running 24/7 for no good reason, saving you money without impacting performance.

Easily Switch Your Marketplace Licenses!

Good news for license management! AWS License Manager now helps you convert licenses for products from the AWS Marketplace.

This is super helpful if you have a mix of licenses, like some you brought yourself (BYOL) and others you paid for through AWS.

Now you can easily switch between license types for the same software without having to redeploy everything. It simplifies things and helps you stay compliant!

Cloud Intelligence Dashboards Get an Update!

For all you data nerds using the CUDOS dashboards, a new version of the Cloud Intelligence Dashboards framework has been released.

Version 5.6.1 is out, and it includes a bunch of bug fixes and small improvements.

It’s always a good idea to update to the latest version to make sure your cost and usage dashboards are running smoothly and accurately!

Microsoft Azure

See All Your Cloud Costs in One Standard Report!

This is a big step forward for multi-cloud fans! Microsoft Cost Management now supports FOCUS 1.2 reports.

FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification) is a project from the FinOps Foundation to create a single, standard way to view cost data, no matter which cloud provider it comes from.

Now, right inside Azure Cost Management, you can see your costs from different clouds and in different currencies, all in one unified and standardized view. This makes multi-cloud cost management so much easier!

That’s all, see you next week!
