Azure Copilot and FinOps MCP Server Push Agentic Cloud Ops Forward

Microsoft is shaping a new agentic cloud operations model that connects observability, governance, and optimization in a closed loop. As part of that, Azure Copilot observability agent is now generally available, and a FinOps MCP Server is in preview.

Microsoft says the approach is meant to support more automated, policy-guarded optimization, which is especially relevant for teams trying to scale FinOps without adding a lot of manual work.

Claude Is Now Generally Available in Microsoft Foundry

Anthropic’s Claude is now generally available in Microsoft Foundry on Azure. Microsoft says enterprise billing uses Claude Consumption Units, or CCU, and the charges are consolidated on Azure bills.

Microsoft also notes support for MACC drawdown and per-model detail, which should help customers track usage more clearly.

Azure Files Gets Better Placement and Billing for Linux Workloads

Azure Files now includes zonal placement and a provisioned v2 billing model. Microsoft says the billing model lets you size IOPS and throughput independently.

For AI inference fleets, that can improve GPU startup times by reducing cold starts and improve utilization. Better utilization usually means lower cost per inference, which is exactly the kind of thing FinOps teams care about.

Azure Storage Mover Now Supports Google Cloud Storage Migration

Azure Storage Mover is now in public preview for moving from Google Cloud Storage to Azure Blob Storage. This gives organizations a managed path for cloud-to-cloud consolidation.

Azure Storage Migration Guidance Focuses on Lowering TCO

Microsoft published new guidance for large-scale storage migrations covering Azure Migrate, Azure Storage Mover, and Azure Data Box. It also calls out new no-service-fee Data Box options.

Azure IaaS Guidance Covers Long-Term Cost Optimization

Microsoft also published comprehensive Azure IaaS cost optimization guidance focused on compute, storage, and networking. The guidance includes right-sizing, savings plans and reservations, lifecycle storage tiering, logging, and network filtering.
