Google Cloud

Fit bigger in-memory workloads on a single machine

Google Cloud’s new X5 machine series pushes memory limits higher. The new configurations go up to 48 TB of memory, beyond the previous 32 TB limit.

That’s especially relevant for very large in-memory databases like SAP HANA. Being able to consolidate onto a single node can change both performance planning and infrastructure spend.

Speed up throughput-heavy workloads with better storage support

Google Cloud also improved storage performance on C4D machines. The C4D machine series now supports Hyperdisk Throughput.

For throughput-heavy applications, that can improve workload efficiency and reduce the need to overprovision. In FinOps terms, better storage-performance tuning often means better cost-performance outcomes.
