Cloud Billing now has spend caps that can pause usage

Google Cloud adds spend cap budgets for Cloud Billing. Google Cloud introduced spend cap budgets that can automatically pause usage when estimated spend goes beyond a configured amount.

This is a direct cost-control feature and one that FinOps teams will care about right away. It gives organizations a stronger way to enforce budget limits instead of only alerting after spend has already moved too far.

Compute Engine gets regional views for global resources

Google Cloud Compute Engine releases regional views for global resources. Google Cloud added regional read-only views for global Compute Engine project and OS image resources.

This can improve control-plane resilience for globally distributed workloads. It also helps teams keep operating more reliably during global API disruptions, which matters when infrastructure management needs to stay available.

C4N machine types now come with Titanium SSD support

Google Cloud Compute Engine launches C4N machine types with Titanium SSD. Google Cloud made the network-optimized C4N machine types generally available with large Titanium SSD support.

This adds more instance and storage capability for teams evaluating performance-per-dollar. For workloads that need stronger storage performance, the combination can change how you think about placement and sizing.

Cloud Run now lets you pause workloads when budgets are hit

Google Cloud Run now supports budget spend caps to pause workloads. Cloud Run added support for Budget spend caps in general availability.

This lets organizations automatically pause Cloud Run workloads when spending goes above a budget threshold. That makes spending control more immediate and gives teams a clearer way to stop overshoot.

BigQuery adds forecasting and anomaly detection with TimesFM 3.0

Google Cloud BigQuery adds TimesFM 3.0 forecasting and anomaly detection. BigQuery now has built-in TimesFM 3.0 support for forecasting, evaluation, and anomaly detection.

These features can support operational efficiency and observability use cases. They’re especially useful where forecasting can improve capacity and cost planning, since better predictions often lead to better decisions.

Cloud SQL for MySQL adds a new tuning flag for memory balance

Cloud SQL for MySQL adds managed buffer pool tuning flag. Cloud SQL for MySQL now supports the innodb_cloudsql_managed_buffer_pool_tuneup_pct flag.

Google Cloud says the flag helps tune managed buffer pool behavior to better balance memory usage and avoid out-of-memory events. That can be useful for teams trying to right-size database memory allocation.
